Today’s Horse Racing Best Bets and Long Shots

In our Exclusive Picks page, PicksandPlays takes their best shot at Golden Gate Fields today. Yesterday, PicksandPlays gave our readers the winner in 7 of 9 races at Finger Lakes Race Track.

Speaking of winners, GuaranteedTipSheet.com had the late pick 4 at Keenleand yesterday. They started it with a $30 horse as their top pick in the 7th. Don’t miss their Aqueduct picks today. Please support us by visiting both and perhaps trying out their other picks. As we can attest, it’s worth the price of admission.

Aqueduct Race Track
Rip’s Picks (nj.com)
Best Bet – Race 6: Stevil (PP: 1 ML 3-1)

Dave Litfin (DRF)
Best Bet – Race 8: Runfromthestorm (PP: 5 ML 6-1)
Dave’s Comments:
stretches out after beginning current form cycle with two sprints, which has been a 57% winning move for this barn in 2008-09; on a bounce/rebound pattern for second allowance attempt.”
NY Post Best Bets:
DaSilva – Race 1: GoldisPretty (PP: 6 ML 5/2)
Fountaine – Race 2: Samarai Moon (PP: 8 ML 3-1)

Debbie L. – Race 9: Unbridled Belle (PP: 2 ML 3/5)
Vic Race 9: Unbridled Belle (PP: 2 ML 3/5)

Calder Race Course
Anthony Schweiker (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 13: Forty Nine Acres (PP: 5 ML 2-1)
Anthony’s Comments:
was highly touted in his debut and bet down accordingly, but he is still a maiden. In each of his four starts he has encountered trouble in one form or another and also had the misfortune of hooking up with some rather talented two-year-olds. Much easier spot today.”

Delta Downs
Steve Nick (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 10: Originate (PP: 8 ML 3-1)
Steve’s Comments:
Class of the nightcap.”
Long Shot – Race 8: Just a Clown (PP: 8 ML 6-1)
Steve’s Comments:
Moves up if track off.”

Finger Lakes Race Track
Lake’s Lucky Picks (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 8: El Rocco (PP: 4 ML 9/5)
Lake’s Comments:
Hit the board against Graded stakes competition and should handle these.”
Long Shot – Race 2: Americanism (PP: 8 ML 8-1)
Lake’s Comments:
Drops in class after tangling with tougher competition. Could use pace.”
Long Shot – Race 5: Queen Maureen (PP: 9 ML 8-1)
Lake’s Comments:
Has run competitively since breaking maiden. Better chance if can make front.”

Golden Gate Fields
Chuck Dybdal (DRF)
Best Bet – Race 5: Arden Park (PP: 1 ML 6/5)
Chuck’s Comments:
has two wins and a second in three starts on the Lakeside Turf Course. He’s stakes-placed over this course and comes off a solid win as the odds-on favorite. Everything seems to point to him. But why the drop? He certainly knows where the finish line is with four victories in seven starts. Compounding the my s t e ry is a slow work since his victory.”
House Handicapper
Best bet – Race 8: Angus (PP: 4 ML 9/5)
Comments:
The one to beat.”

Laurel Park
Frank Carulli (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 6: Easy Reach (PP: 6 ML 2-1)
Frank’s Comments:
stalked the fave, held ‘willingly’ in improved second start.”
Chef’s Choice – Race 4: Fox Red (PP: 6 ML 9/2)

Lone Star Park
Rick Lee (house handicapper)
Lee’s Lock – Race 1: Cowboy Cartel (PP: 3 ML 8/5)
Rick’s Comments:
finished in the money in three consecutive races at Ruidoso, and is dropping into a maiden claiming dash.”
Best Bet – Race 3: Dulce Seis (PP: 4 ML 5/2)
Rick’s Comments:
is taking a slight drop in class following a photo finish defeat, and his consistency makes him the one to beat.”

Best Bet – Race 8: Check On Chico (PP: 6 ML 3-1)
Rick’s Comments:
is a multiple stakes winner, who is very quick, and narrowly lost as the favorite in the 2008 Gridiron Gallop.”

Los Alamitos Race Track
Ed Burgart (track announcer)
Best Bet – Race 9: Terrific Energy (PP: 3 ML 4/5)
Ed’ Comments:
sensational in last Grade I distaff stakes win when setting a Mildred Vessels Memorial stakes record.”

Meadowlands Racetrack
Rip’s Picks (nj.com)
Best Bet – Race 5: Soda Pop Kid (PP: 6 ML 2-1)
Rip’s Comments:
ships over from N.Y. to win third in a row.”

Oak Tree at Santa Anita
Brad Free (DRF)
Best Bet – Race 8: My Summer Slew (PP: 2 ML 6-1)
Brad’s Comments:
The imporving MY SUMMER SLEW moves up to open company after a sharp win vs. N1X Calbreds, and the gelding enters as the most probable winner on the card. He beat a good field at Fairplex last time; runner-up High Standards is a stakes-caliber pro who returned to finish third in a $58k stake at Fresno ; third-place finisher Lucky Honey returned with a good third in a $50k claimer. MY SUMMER SLEW has a strong workout pattern since raced, he proved Aug .20 in a much-troubled comeback that he handles grass, and his versatile style should lead to a cozy trip on or near the lead. Up the ladder with the improving gelding who is 2-for-6.

Saratoga Raceway (harness)
Sardella’s Selections (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 3: Boardwalk (PP: 5 ML 5/2)
Sardella’s Comments:
Drops off a better third, ready to win.”
Best Bet – Race 7: Eastover Court (PP: 3 ML 5/2)
Sardella’s Selections:
In a winning spot.”
Long Shot – Race 12: Lundin (PP: 4 ML 4-1)
Sardella’s Comments:
Drops and can grind out a win

Woodbine Racetrack (thoroughbred)
Jim Bannon (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 1: Beaujelais Nouveau (PP: 8 ML 2-1)
Jim’s Comments:
comes off consecutive runner up finishes; two starts ago at this distance, she was in at this price; most recently, she moved well on the outside with every chance to win it but hung and was about a length shy of the winner.”
Abernathy (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 4: Bear Always (PP: 7 ML 5/2)
Jennifer Morrison (thestar.com)
Best Bet – Race 5: Vezeau Beach (PP: 7 ML 7/2)
Long Shot – Race 2: Black Bikini (PP: 4 ML 10-1)

Woodbine Racetrack (standardbred)
Hans Grottke (thestar.com)
Best Bet – Race 10: Ramegade Bruiser (PP: 4 ML 8/5)
Long Shot – Race 3: Armbro Doyle (PP: 4 ML 5-1)
