Today’s Best Bets and Long Shot Horse Racing Tips
Belmont Park
Dave Lifin (DRF)
Best Bet – Race 8: Coal Play (PP: 8 ML 2-1)
Dave’s Comments:
“is either very good, as he was winning back to back with 105/109 figures in early summer, or very bad, as he was in the Iselin at 4-5; he has a knack for rebounding from those “off days” when able to get the lead, so a big key is whether ’08 Dwyer winner MINT LANE and/or ’07 Pa. Derby winner TIMBER RESERVE show some of their old speed second time back.”
NY Post Best Bets:

Oak Tree at Santa Anita Race Track
Brad Free (DRF)
Best Bet – Race 7: Tamar (PP: 3 ML 7/2)
Brad’s Comments:
“The margin of victory by Del Mar maiden winner TAMAR does not begin to tell how well she ran .Hooked into an insane 22.03-second first quart e r, she shrugged off her pace foe after a blistering half-mile in 45.11 seconds, opened up, died home and held. It was a super win by a fast filly with a huge pace advantage in this seven – furlong race. There is absolutely zero speed signed up other than TAMAR, who figures to fall into the lead, lope along unchallenged, and race gate to wire as the most probable winner on the opening day card. It is either brave or naive to back a synthetic-surface runner on the first day of any California race meet. Because no one knows for certain how Pro-Ride will play.”
Woodbine Racetrack
Jim Bannon (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 3: Tempest A Di Neve (PP: 7 ML 3-1)
Jim’s Comments:
“disappointed in this category two starts ago; most recently, he made a rail move and was second beaten a half length and just in front of Nice Case with some of these behind him; he will be tough on a repeat and now gets a more outwardly post.”
Abernathy (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 7: Drunken Love (PP: 5 ML 12-1)
Jennifer Morrison (thestar.com)
Best Bet – Race 1: Blind Respect (PP: 8 ML 5/2)
Long Shot – Race 3: Graeme Wafer (PP: 6 ML 8-1)
